If you’re looking for a great book to read this summer, you might want to start with works by some local authors such as Terry Kay, Phillip Lee Williams and Mark Katzman.

Not sure where to start? The Avid Bookshop in Five Points is a good place to start! They have a local bestsellers list that currently features cookbooks, fiction, non-fiction and children’s books. As of press time, Avid was not open to customers for browsing, but you can still visit them online. Happy reading!

Looking for a way to show some love for musicians and gig workers who have been severely affected by Covid-19, Southern Brewing Company teamed up with Live Wire Athens and Aubrey Entertainment to create LoveShack. The live music and streaming festival, held on the five-acre grounds of the Southern Brewing Company, will feature a local lineup and raise funds for Athfest Educates and Nuci’s Space. The event will follow all guidelines for outdoor functions.

Local food trucks and vendors will also be on site. In an effort to support local, #LoveShack, thanks to the generosity of Ruby Sue Graphics, will use the 1988 Athens Bands shirt featuring REM, Pylon, Widespread Panic and more.
